Venetian plaster is a decorative plaster technique built from multiple very thin trowelled layers. It can be left matte or compressed and burnished to a smooth, marble-like sheen.
Lime plaster is a trowel-applied mineral material; Venetian plaster is a technique or category of finish. Many Venetian finishes are lime-based, but lime plaster can also be left textured, rustic or stone-like rather than smooth and polished.
Cost depends on the finish, surface condition, size, access and level of detail. We provide a project-specific estimate after reviewing photos or visiting the site.
Often, yes. Sound painted drywall is cleaned, repaired and primed with the primer specified for the plaster system before application.
Yes. Fireplace surrounds and chimney walls are among our most common plaster projects. Existing brick, stone or drywall is evaluated and prepared first, sometimes with cement board or mesh.
Yes. Plaster range hoods are built over a suitable substrate and finished by hand. We recommend a protective treatment based on the system and how the kitchen is used.
Yes, when installed as a complete shower system with the waterproofing and sealers specified for wet areas. See our microcement and plaster showers page for details.
No. Venetian plaster can be sealed for water resistance in some areas, but it is not a waterproof shower system. For wet areas we use microcement or plaster shower systems designed for water exposure.
Roman clay is a trowel-applied matte finish with soft texture and movement. Limewash is a lime-based paint brushed on to create cloudy color variation without added texture.
It depends on the surface size, preparation, system and drying conditions. We give you a project-specific schedule after reviewing your space.
Yes. We create or review samples so you can see the texture, movement and color. You can also compare finish samples at our Wayne office by appointment.
